TALISKER DISTILLERY ESTABLISHED AT
THE ISLE OF SKYE
It all began when two brothers, Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill, moved to the Isle of Skye in 1827 and acquired the lease of a farm on the west coast called the Talisker House. In 1830, the brothers opened the Talisker Distillery at the village of Carbost on the shore of Loch Harport. At the time, whisky-making was for the most part a side business operated by farms; the Isle had seven licensed distilleries and dozens of unlicensed distilleries. Today, Talisker is the only distillery on the Isle of Skye.

SOLITARY DISTILLERY
Having become the only distillery on the Isle, Talisker was isolated, and consequently, relied solely on the distillery's own unique creativity as it developed.Though the owner of the distillery changed a number of times, Talisker had gained a reputation to an extent that John Anderson, a realtor from Glasgow who bought Talisker in 1863, claimed that "no other whisky on the market matches the reputation gained by Talisker".

A TOAST TO ALL THOSE WHO BRAVE
THE HIGH SEAS
Following the Talisker Storm, Talisker Port Ruighe was released in 2014. This whisky was bottled in reverence to the brave traders from the Isle of Skye who were instrumental in the success of the port wine trade in the 19th century.Double matured in port casks, its flavors are seamlessly integrated, this spirit's powerful taste of the sea, along with the peppery flavor unique to Talisker, and the rich, sweet aroma of red berries from the port cask create fine contrasts in flavor.
